The Coach: Method, Data & Passion

Francesco Guglielmino

Method, consistency, and work ethic: my father’s vision behind every workout I run.

Technical Guidance

Behind my training framework, my meticulous focus on performance metrics, and my analytical approach to running stands my father and coach, Francesco Guglielmino. From my very first steps on the track, he instilled in me the critical importance of biomechanical analysis, scientific workload programming, and deep respect for daily trackside work.

Technical Background & High-Level Credentials

Francesco’s journey began in the late 1990s within triathlon (becoming a certified FITRI Coach in 1998), a multidisciplinary sport that allowed him to develop a refined expertise in aerobic volume management and endurance development.

He gradually shifted his primary focus toward track and field, pursuing the highest levels of national technical education:

  • FIDAL Level 3 Specialist Coach: The highest national certification granted by the Italian Track and Field Federation for Sprints and Hurdles, earned at the Air Force Technical Center in Vigna di Valle (Rome).

  • The School of Prof. Carlo Vittori: Advanced technical education alongside legends of Italian track history. Mentored under the principles of Pietro Mennea’s historic coach, Francesco inherited a relentless focus on running mechanics, technical efficiency, and the precise balancing of training loads and recovery.

Coaching Track Record & National Achievements

Under his technical leadership on the track, his training group enjoyed years of competitive excellence, establishing itself as one of the premier youth programs in Sicily and making a distinct mark nationwide:

  • Top 50 Club in Italy: Consistently ranked among the top 50 youth clubs in Italy in the U18 (Allievi) category.

  • 4th Place at National Team Finals: A historic 4th place finish at the Italian U18 Team Championship Finals (Final B) in Molfetta (2005).

  • National Championship Qualifications: Dozens of qualifications for Individual and Relay National Championships (including the 4x400m in Rieti), spanning his core specialties: 100m, 110m hurdles, and 400m hurdles (reaching a 4th place national finish); to a well-rounded program covering field events (hammer throw, long jump, triple jump) and race walking.

To Francesco, coaching has never been just about recording lap times; it is about building resilient, patient, and self-aware athletes.
